In a commanding performance, the Perth Scorchers secured a seven-wicket triumph over the Adelaide Strikers in the 17th match of the Big Bash League 2024-25, held at Adelaide Oval on December 31, 2024.

Opting to bowl first, the Scorchers’ pace attack dismantled the Strikers’ top order, reducing them to a precarious 58 for 8. Jhye Richardson led the charge with impressive figures of 3 for 29, while Jason Behrendorff and Lance Morris contributed with two wickets each.

Amidst the collapse, tailenders Brendan Doggett and Cameron Boyce showcased resilience, forging a record-breaking ninth-wicket partnership. Doggett remained unbeaten on 47, and Boyce added 29 not out, propelling the Strikers to a total of 142 for 8.

In response, the Scorchers’ batting lineup exhibited aggressive intent. Finn Allen blazed his way to a rapid 50 off 23 balls, setting the tone for the chase. Cooper Connolly, who had a fortunate escape early in his innings due to a missed appeal, capitalized on the opportunity, scoring an unbeaten 48. Skipper Ashton Turner contributed a quickfire 35 not out, guiding the Scorchers to victory in just 14.3 overs, with 33 balls to spare.
